How to embed OwnerRez widgets in your guide

Drop OwnerRez widgets into any section of your Touch Stay guidebook to make it easy for guests to view availability and book direct from your guide.

Touch Stay supports 3 different types of OwnerRez widgets, the Multi-Month Calendar widget, the Booking/Inquiry Widget and the Search Widget. If you need any help creating OwnerRez widgets, then see this article on the OwnerRez support site.

Step by step: How to add an OwnerRez widget to your Touch Stay guidebook

New Custom Elements can be created from the "Custom Elements" tab of the Account page. Use the New Custom Element option.

Next, select the OwnerRez widget type as the Third Party Service. This will prepopulate a Custom element code name, but you can change this to something more descriptive if you prefer. This is the short code that you will ultimately insert into your topic content where you want the widget to show.

You now need to copy the link to your OwnerRez widget. This can be found in your OwnerRez account under the settings for each widget. From the OwnerRez Settings menu, select Widgets and then use the edit icon on the chosen widget to open the settings for it.

Scroll down to the Share with Hosted Widget link section and copy the link.

Then, paste into the OwnerRez widget link box in your Touch Stay Custom Element and click Save.

Your Custom Element is now ready, and the final step is to insert the code into your topic content where you want the widget to be displayed.

Head to Content Hub and find/add the topic you wish to include your widget within. In the text entry box toolbar for the topic, there is an option for Custom Elements. Place your cursor where you would like the widget to be present in the topic, it can be used standalone or have regular topic content (regular text or images) before or after. Click the Custom Elements option in the toolbar and then select your custom element code name from the dropdown and click Insert.

This will place your custom element field code into your topic content and when you preview the guide it will be replaced by your chosen widget.

Creating a separate calendar or booking widget for each guide

If you want to display a separate calendar or booking widget for each guide, then you'll need to create a separate widget in OwnerRez for each.

You can then add the widget link to the guide level override for your custom element code. For each guide, head to the Guide Details tab and scroll down to the Guide Custom Elements section. Click the Edit button and then paste in the widget link for that particular guide.

Using a Custom Source to attribute bookings to your Touch Stay guide

OwnerRez allows you to create custom sources to track the source of bookings made outside the major booking platforms and OTAs. If you create a Custom Source for Touch Stay and apply this to your booking widget, then any bookings that come from your guide will be attributed correctly. Setting up and applying Custom Sources to your widgets is explained on the OwnerRez support site here.

Trouble Shooting FAQs

My link isn't being accepted when creating my custom element, what should I do?

If your link isn't being accepted, then the most likely reason is that it's the wrong link. Double check you are using the Hosted Widget link as shown above. If this still doesn't work, or you can't find it in your OwnerRez account, then please contact support and send us a screenshot of the widget share options that are available to you.

Can I have a different version of the widget for each of my guides?

Yes, you can set a different value for the widget for each guide in your account. This means you don't need to create a separate custom element for each of your properties. The guide specific value of any custom element can be added from the Guide Details tab for each guide. Towards the bottom of the tab is a Guide Custom Elements section, use the Edit button and within here any value for the embed code and height that you set will apply to this guide only. Note, this option is only available if you have more than 1 guide in your account.
