How to create clickable links for email, telephone, SMS or WhatsApp

You can add clickable links to any topic in your guides to open a mobile device’s email, phone, messaging app or WhatsApp so people using your guides can contact you easily.

How to add a clickable link - email, sms text message or phone

Type in the phone number or email address you want to add a clickable link for. Highlight the text and click the link chain icon in the tool bar.

Next, in the url box, enter the type of link you are creating:

For a phone number write: tel:

For text message write: sms:

For email write: mailto:

Follow this preface with the rest of the number or email address. Don't forget the international dialling code for overseas guide users.

The text to display box is already populated by the text you highlighted in your topic content box.

For the Open link in... choose 'New window'.

How to add a clickable link - WhatsApp

For WhatsApp, in the URL box, preface with: https://wa.me/

Type in the WhatsApp phone number without any zeros or the + symbol. For example, if my phone number is 555-123-4567, I will add a 1 at the start (the international dialling code for my country) and i would need to type in: https://wa.me/15551234567

The text to display box is already populated by the text you highlighted in your topic content box.

For the Open link in... choose 'New window'. Ignore the title box.
