Touch Stay is integrated with Google Maps so you can easily add Google Places to your guidebook to help guests find the best restaurants, attractions and more. Your guidebook looks fab and guests can navigate the local area with ease.
How to add a Google Place
Watch the video or read on to learn how to add Google Places to your Touch Stay guidebooks:
You can add a Google Place as a Topic to any section of your guide and they will populate on your guidebook map. The most common place to add a Google Place is to the Local Area Guide Category as this is where guest will typically go to learn more about the things to see and do during their stay.
Go to Content Hub, expand the Category and Sub-category where you want to add a Google Place. Click Add Topic and select Google Place:
Write the name of the place you want to add in the search bar and select from the drop down the one that matches the place you wish to add. If you don’t see any results refresh your screen (use Ctrl+R on Windows or Cmd+R on Apple).
Details of the Google Place will usually include a photo, the address, phone number, review stars, opening hours and website link. We will also automatically add a location pin to your guidebook map. Some elements may be missing if they are not in the Google Place database, but you can add them yourself.
The default Google Places photo will be automatically to your Topic. If you prefer to add your own image (sometimes the default Google image isn't great!) you can tick the Don't Use Google Photo box. You can add your own image in a moment.
Next, choose the map pin style that will show on your guidebook map for this place. If you click on the menu, you can see that we have many different options for this pin style so choose the one that best fits your place.
Then decide which guides you want this topic to show on by selecting the appropriate tags.
You can now click Save to complete Google Place Topic creation OR click Next to add more details and help this place come to life for your guests.
Here you can add your own image by clicking Add Media and add more details about the place to give a personalised touch and more interesting details to your guests. Once you are done click Submit
Now you can see your Google place in Content Hub:
- If you can’t find exactly what you are looking for then try adding some elements of the address to help narrow the search down.
- If you really get stuck then use regular Google search to find the place and see if you can see it on the right hand side of the page. For example, see the picture below for the Olive Tree in Bath.
- Make sure you type this exact place name, in our example “Olive Tree Restaurant”, in the Google Place box in Touch Stay and it will appear!
