The default Touch Stay guidebook language is English, and there are two ways to offer other languages: Google Translate for instant translations, or your own translations for precise wording. You can only use one method at a time, so choose the one that suits you best.
Table of contents:
Where to choose your translation method
In the new Hub: go to General settings → Translations and choose one of:
Disabled: your guidebooks and messages are available in one language only.
Manual translations: you add your own translations (see option 2 below).
Google Translate: guidebook content is translated automatically (see option 1 below).
💡 Google Translate isn't offered on master accounts, or on accounts whose languages are managed by a master account. If you switch away from Manual translations, you'll be asked to confirm, and your guidebooks' display languages are reset to English only.
In the legacy Hub: go to Settings > Preferences > Languages and choose Multi-language, Google translate or Disabled.
1. Google Translate for instant translations
Use this option for a quick translation solution powered by Google Translate. Guests can choose which language they view your guidebook in.
New Hub: General settings → Translations → Google Translate.
Legacy Hub: Settings > Preferences > Languages, then click the Google translate option.
Once activated, there will be a globe icon on the home page of your guides which users can click to select the language they want the guide translated into.
Note: Translations are powered by Google Translate. Touch Stay does not have any control over the output and cannot edit translations. Google Translate translates your guidebook content, not your message templates. For a more precise solution, see option 2 below.
2. Add your own translations
Use this option if you require more accurate and precise translations. It's called Manual translations in the new Hub and Multi-language in the legacy Hub.
You can create your guide in other languages by entering your own translation for the text. Currently we support Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Norwegian, Finnish, Russian, Greek, Welsh, Japanese, Chinese, Indonesian, Bulgarian and Romanian.
You add your own translated text to your categories, subcategories and topics, and you can add translations to your message templates too. Touch Stay automatically translates navigation elements, such as the “Get Started” button and map filters.
