How to add your own content in additional languages

Learn how to add, manage, and display multiple languages in your Touch Stay guide. This article explains how to enable languages, add your own translations, and make them visible to your guests.

Table of contents:

Overview

Google Translate not accurate or precise enough? You can translate your guidebook using your own text translations.

We currently support: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Norwegian, Finnish, Russian, Greek, Welsh, Japanese, Chinese, Indonesian, Bulgarian and Romanian.

When you add your own translations:

  • You add your own translated text to your categories, subcategories and topics

  • Touch Stay automatically translates navigation elements (such as the “Get Started” button and map filters)

There are three steps, and all three are needed for a language to appear in your guidebook.

Step 1: Turn on your own translations and add languages

In the new Hub

  1. Go to General settings → Translations.

  2. Select Manual translations.

  3. Under Supported Languages, click Add language and choose the languages you want.

💡 English is the default language and can't be removed. If you remove another language, you'll be asked to confirm, and its translations are permanently deleted.

In the legacy Hub

Go to Settings → Preferences → Multi-language, select the languages you want to add and save your changes.

Step 2: Add your translated content

In the new Hub

  1. Open a topic from your guidebook's Guidebook Content tab or from Account library → Content Hub.

  2. On the Content tab, use the language tabs to switch language, then enter the translated title and content.

  3. Click Save Changes.

For category and subcategory titles, open the category or subcategory editor and use its language tabs in the same way.

💡 If a language is still empty, the topic editor may offer to translate it for you (with AI translation, where available) or let you enter the translation yourself. Always check AI translations before you show the language to guests.

In the legacy Hub

In your Content Hub, open any category, subcategory or topic. You will see language tabs (e.g. English / Italiano / Español). For each language, click the language tab, add your translated text and save your changes.

💡 Tip: Each language must be completed for each category, subcategory and topic you want guests to read in that language.

Step 3: Show the languages in your guidebook

In the new Hub

  1. Open Guidebooks, select your guidebook and click the Settings tab.

  2. In the Translations & Languages card, under Show language in guidebook?, switch on the languages you want guests to see.

  3. Click Save Changes.

💡 At least one language must stay switched on. To add or remove languages from your account, click Manage supported languages in the same card.

In the legacy Hub

Go to the Guides page, select your guide, go to the Guide details tab, scroll to Display Languages and tick the languages you want to show.

💡 Note: Languages can be prepared first and only shown when ready.

⚠️ Important: If this step is not completed, the language will not appear in the guide.

What your guests will see

  • The guide will display in the guest’s browser language (if available)

  • If not available, it will default to English

Guests can also change the language themselves. On the legacy guidebook design, they use the 🌐 globe icon on the HOME tab.

Invitations and message templates

Message Hub message templates include language tabs. You can:

  • Add translations to messages

  • Select the guest’s language when sending invitations

  • Messages will use your translated content (if available)

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Why is my language not showing in the guide?

Check the following:

  • The language is added → see Step 1

  • Content has been added → see Step 2

  • The language is switched on in the guide → see Step 3

💡 All three steps are required for the language to appear.

Does Touch Stay translate my content automatically?

  • With your own translations, you add each translation yourself, so your content is accurate and personalised.

  • In the new Hub, the topic editor may offer an AI translation as a starting point for an empty language, where available. Review it before showing the language to guests.

👉 To add translations, see Step 2: Add your translated content.

Can I hide a language until it’s ready?

  • Yes. You can add translations first and only switch the language on later.

👉 To show the language when ready, see Step 3: Show the languages in your guidebook.

Can guests change the language themselves?

  • Yes. Available languages depend on what you’ve switched on, see Step 3.

Can I add a language that is not listed?
