The Store Explained

Set up and manage your Touch Stay Store. Learn how to add products and services, create categories, configure Stripe or self-managed payments, control which guides display items, and publish your Store for guests.

The Store adds a "Store" tab to a guidebook so guests can browse and purchase items or services (late check-out, extra cleaning, a bottle of wine, breakfast basket, etc.) directly from their guidebook.

What is the Store?

The Store adds a "Store" tab to a guidebook so guests can browse and purchase items or services directly from their guidebook.

Setup Steps

First-time setup

If you haven't set up your Store yet, go to Store in the left sidebar — you'll see a "Ready to start selling?" screen with a Setup your store button.

This launches a 4-step wizard:

Step 1: Notifications

Choose where you want to receive order notifications — an Email address (defaults to your account email; use Change or + to add more) and, optionally, an SMS number.

Step 2: Items

A set of ready-made template items is shown, grouped by category (e.g. Booking access: Early Check-in, Late Check-out, Pet fee; Housekeeping: Extra Cleaning, Damage waiver; Wine and Snacks: Bottle of Local Wine; Food & Drinks: Breakfast basket). Toggle any item on or off — you can add your own or edit these later.

Step 3: Terms

Paste a link to your Terms and Conditions of sale (e.g. hosted on Google Docs or your website) — customers must agree to these before ordering. If you don't have one, use the Get T&C template button for a starter template.

Step 4: Payments

Choose between:

  • Online payments (Recommended, Powered by Stripe) — accept guest payments securely via Stripe, with order notifications, order management (Accept/Decline), tax handling and reporting, receipts/invoices/refunds, and the ability to enable or disable at any time. Touch Stay takes a 2% fee on every order.

  • Self-managed payments — order notifications via email and SMS, but you handle payment collection, invoicing, and taxes yourself; no built-in order management.

Selecting an option completes the wizard and creates your Store.

Managing settings after setup

Once your Store exists, go to Store → Settings to review and adjust the Global Store Settings:

  • Enable Store feature — a Published/Unpublished toggle that adds or removes the Store tab from your guidebook content globally. When unpublished, it's not visible in any guidebook, regardless of per-guide settings below.

  • Purchase notifications — choose how you'd like to receive order alerts: Email, SMS, or both. You can add more than one notification email here.

  • Store currency — select a single global currency; it applies to all items.

  • Link for Terms and Conditions of sale — the same T&C link from setup; can be updated here at any time.

💡 If you connect Stripe for online payments, your Store currency becomes fixed to your Stripe account's currency and can no longer be changed independently.

Payment & Tax Settings

Under Payment settings, Store integrates directly with Stripe:

Online payments (Powered by Stripe) — connect and manage your Stripe account from within the Store settings. The account can show a status (e.g., "restricted — please review it promptly") if Stripe needs more information.

Tax settings: declare whether you're liable for sales taxes (e.g., VAT) on goods/services sold in your Store. Choosing "Yes" walks you through tax registration details for the jurisdictions where your guides are located; choosing "No" confirms you're not required to register or provide further details.

Product Management

Items are created via Store → Items → Add Item

This includes:

  • Name, description (rich text editor), price, image

  • Shop category — organize items into categories (each with its own icon, added via Add Shop Category)

  • Display item? toggle — controls guest-facing visibility, independent of the category and global toggles

  • Tags and Guidebook tags — general tags (e.g., "All Guides") plus per-guide tags so an item can be scoped to specific guidebooks rather than only an all-or-nothing "which guidebooks show the Store" choice

Variants

Any item can have variants (e.g., size, colors). Toggle "This item has variants" on the item's Variants tab, then click Add new variant. Each variant has its own name, price, photo, and a "Display variant?" visibility toggle.

Advanced item settings

On the item's Advanced tab:

  • Max quantity per order — leave empty for no limit

  • Delivery date required toggle — ask the guest to provide an expected delivery date

  • Item order notifications — falls back to the store-level email/SMS by default, with the option to add extra notification emails for that specific item

Products can be organized into categories using Add Shop Category, and toggled on/off using the "Display item?" toggle to control visibility.

📌 Each store supports up to 50 products, to help maintain a clear and user-friendly experience for guests.

To change your Store currency: go to Store → Settings → Store Currency → Edit.

NOTE: This setting will be locked to Stripe's currency once Stripe is connected

Publishing

The guidebook is published to make the Store visible to guests, with a Preview option available before going live. Per-guide publishing is managed under Store → Settings → Guide settings, listing each guide with its own Published/Unpublished toggle.

Orders

Store → Orders gives you a full order-management screen, not just notifications:

  • Search and filter orders by customer name/email/phone, status, included items, and which guide they were ordered from

  • Each order can be Accepted or Declined

  • Order detail view shows the items ordered, quantity and price, payment info (e.g., "Offline payment" or Stripe), the customer's contact details with a link into Contacts, which guide it was purchased from, and any guest note

Analytics

Store → Analytics provides a reporting dashboard, filterable by time period, shop category, and guide:

  • Volume — guest store visits, products sold

  • Revenue — total sales value and value after commission

  • Commissions — Touch Stay's commission and Stripe's fees, shown separately

  • Category Split — a chart of sales by shop category

  • Performance Management / Product Sales Breakdown — a table of products with number of orders and value

  • Declined Orders and Lost Revenue — orders not completed and their unrealized value

  • Export Excel — export the analytics data

Key Settings & Features

  • Notifications: Email, SMS, or both for order alerts (store-level and, optionally, per item)

  • Currency: single global currency; locked to Stripe's currency once Stripe is connected

  • Terms & Conditions: required link, with an optional starter template

  • Tax settings: VAT/sales-tax liability declaration

  • Online payments: Stripe-integrated, with identity verification, 2% Touch Stay fee per order

  • Global Store toggle: enable/disable the Store tab across all guidebooks

  • Guidebook Selection: per-guide publishing, plus per-item Guidebook tags for finer targeting

  • Product Limit: maximum 50 products per store

  • Variants: multiple variants per item (size, color, etc.)

  • Orders management: accept/decline workflow, order detail, guest notes

  • Analytics: revenue, commissions, volume, and performance reporting

⚠️ Current limitation: Admins can track and manage all past orders via the Orders tab; guests do not currently have a visible order-history view within their guidebook.
