Guest Registration explained

Guest Registration lets your guests check in inside the guidebook itself — sharing their contact details and, if you need it, ID information for local authority reporting.

Guest Registration lets your guests check in inside the guidebook itself — sharing their contact details and, if you need it, ID information for local authority reporting.

What it does

When a guest opens your guidebook, they can be asked to confirm who they are and how long they're staying before they see your content. You choose which details to ask for, and whether asking is Optional (guests may skip it) or Required (guests must complete it to continue).

You can also turn on Guest Identification to collect a document type and number, date of birth, nationality, and home address — useful in markets that require guest ID reporting.

Good to know

  • Guest Registration only works on guidebooks using Guidebook 2.0. Guidebooks on the legacy design use Contact Collection instead.

  • Only typed information is collected — guests never upload a photo of an ID document.

  • Guest Registration collects and stores the details you ask for; it doesn't verify documents or file anything with local authorities on your behalf.

  • New accounts start with Guest Registration already on, set to Optional, so guests can check in or skip it. Each guidebook then either follows your account defaults or keeps its own configuration.

Why this is better: Hosts get one clear place to explain what Guest Registration is and isn't before deciding whether to turn it on.
