Understanding Timelines

Timelines turns your guidebook's Home tab into a guided journey for your guests, showing the right information at the right moment of their stay.

Timelines turns your guidebook's Home tab into a guided journey for your guests, showing the right information at the right moment of their stay.

What it does

Instead of one long list of information, Timelines organises your guidebook around five moments: Pre-arrival, Check-in, During stay, Check-out, and Post-stay. Each moment is a stack of widgets you choose and arrange, such as Wi-Fi access, weather, or recommended places.

What your guests see

Your guest's guidebook has four tabs: Home, Info, Store, and Assistant. Timelines changes only Home, which shows a moment strip labelled Pre-arrival · Check-in · During your stay · Check-out · Post-stay.

If your guest's stay has dates — from a synced booking, an invitation, or a guest registration form — Home automatically opens on the moment they're currently in. If there are no dates, such as with a quick-share link, all five moments are open and your guest taps through them manually.

Your Info tab is unchanged — all your guidebook content stays fully browsable there at any time.

Good to know

  • You set up one Timeline per account, and it's shared by every guidebook.

  • Each guidebook either follows your account settings — the Use Guidebook defaults toggle, which is on by default — or takes control with its own on/off switch on that guidebook's Timelines tab. The account-level timeline lives in Guidebook defaults → Timelines. If you only have one guidebook there is nothing to inherit from, so that guidebook's own switch is the only one you'll see.

  • Timelines is a paid feature. If your plan doesn't include it, the Timelines tab shows an upgrade prompt instead of the settings.

  • Timelines is only available once your account is on the new guidebook design (Guidebook 2.0).

Why this is better: Hosts can guide guests to the exact information they need at each stage of the stay instead of relying on guests to search a static guidebook.
