The Marketplace Explained

The Marketplace lets you connect with experience partners so your guests can discover and book tours and activities directly from their guidebook — with no manual setup required.

Table of Contents

What is the Marketplace?

Go to Marketplace in the left sidebar to see available partners. Each partner card shows a short description and the commission rate you can earn on bookings made through your guidebook.

Connecting a Partner

Click Connect on a partner card to launch the setup wizard. It has three steps:

Step 1: Destinations

Your guides are automatically matched to the closest city/town destination in the partner's catalog. Review the auto-matched destinations and adjust if needed — each guide can be matched to a specific destination (one destination per guide), and you can see how many guidebooks fall under each match.

Step 2: Preferences

Set the widget's Language and Currency. By default these match your guidebook's language and your Store's currency settings — override here only if you need something different.

Step 3: Finish the Setup

Once confirmed, the integration activates immediately. A new topic (matching the partner's name, e.g. "Local Experiences") is automatically created and added to your Content Hub and guidebooks — no manual copying of embed codes or creating topics yourself.

Guides you add later are picked up automatically too — a newly created guide gets matched to a destination and included under Manage → Match destinations without you needing to reopen or re-save the setup wizard.

Managing a Connected Partner

Once connected, the partner's card in Marketplace shows additional options:

  • Download Report — export your booking and commission data

  • Manage (pencil icon) — reopen the setup wizard to review or change destination matches and preferences

  • Disconnect (icon) — remove the integration

The auto-created topic itself is managed from Content Hub, just like any other topic:

  • It's tagged with the partner's widget type (e.g. "Viator Widget") and locked from manual content edits, since the widget content is served automatically

  • Use Tags and Guidebook tags to control which guides show the widget, the same tagging system used elsewhere in Touch Stay (e.g. the Store)

  • You can rename the topic's title if you'd like something other than the partner's default name

Available Partners

  • Viator — a Tripadvisor company; 300,000+ experiences across 2,500+ destinations. Available now.

  • GetYourGuide — local tours and experiences. Marked "Coming soon" — not yet available to connect.

FAQs

Do I need to create an affiliate link myself?
No. Connecting through Marketplace handles this automatically — commission tracking is built into the widget once connected.

Can I choose where the widget appears in my guide?
Yes. The widget is added to a topic automatically, and you can control which specific guidebooks show it using Guidebook tags on that topic, the same way you would for any other tagged content.

Can my property be matched to more than one destination?
No — currently each guide is matched to a single destination. If your property sits between two eligible destinations, only one will be used; there isn't a way to show tours from both yet.

Can I still add my own Viator widget code manually?
The Marketplace connection is the current supported method and doesn't require any manual embed code. If you have a specific need for a custom embed, contact [email protected].

When and how are commissions paid out?
Commission payments follow the terms of the individual partner's affiliate program. Use the Download Report option on the partner's card to see your booking and commission data.
