The Viator widget adds a topic that offers local tours and experiences to your guests, matched to the location of each guidebook. You add it from Browse widgets, in the subcategory where you want it.
ℹ️ This article covers the New Hub.
Table of contents:
Before you start
Viator is connected to your account through Tours & Activities. If you haven't connected it yet, adding the widget starts the setup for you. See What happens next.
Each guidebook needs a property address with a city and country, so Touch Stay can find Viator experiences near it.
New to Browse widgets? The full click path is in How to add a widget to your guidebook with Browse widgets.
How to add the Viator widget
Open the widget list in the subcategory where you want the widget: Guidebook Content tab → Add Topic to → Browse widgets. The full steps are in How to add a widget to your guidebook with Browse widgets.
Find Viator widget and click Add.
What happens next depends on whether Viator is already connected to your account. See below.
What happens next
If Viator is already connected
Touch Stay adds a topic called Local Experiences to the subcategory you chose and shows the message Viator Widget successfully added! When you add it from inside a guidebook, the topic also gets that guidebook's tags, so it appears in that guidebook's content.
If Viator isn't connected yet
The Viator connection window opens. Click Connect, then follow the setup steps: review how your guidebooks are matched to Viator destinations, choose your preferences and finish with Finish the Setup. Each step is explained in The Tours & Activities Explained.
When the setup finishes, Touch Stay creates the Local Experiences topic in a Local Experiences category of its own. It isn't added to the subcategory you started from, so you'll find it in that category in Account library.
Check the location
Open the new topic and look at Location of experiences on the Content tab:
If Touch Stay found a location, a notice called Auto-destination matching explains that the widget shows local experiences based on the guidebook's location.
If it didn't, you'll see We couldn't find any location for your experiences. Check that your property has a proper city and country. Inside a guidebook, click Add property location to go there.
Either way, the widget displays experiences for the nearest destination to your property.
One Viator widget per subcategory
A subcategory can hold one Viator widget. If it already has one, Viator widget is dimmed in Browse widgets and can't be selected there. You can still add a Viator widget in a different subcategory.
Good to know
On the topic's Content tab you can change the title, Local Experiences by default. There's no other content to write. The topic also has a Visibility tab.
Tags decide which guidebooks show the widget. To show or hide it in other guidebooks, change the tags. See Tags On Guides Explained.
Which Viator destination each guidebook uses is managed under Tours & Activities.
