How to customise your guidebook appearance

In the new Hub, the Appearance tab inside each guidebook controls how your guidebook looks: cover photos, welcome text, logo, favicon, colours, fonts and theme.

In the new Hub, the Appearance tab inside each guidebook controls how your guidebook looks. The options you see depend on your guidebook design: Guidebook 2.0 or the legacy design.

Table of contents:

How to get there

  1. Open Guidebooks from the left sidebar.

  2. Select the guidebook you want to brand (or use the Editing guidebook dropdown to switch to it).

  3. Click the Appearance tab.

Guidebook 2.0: Front Page Customizations

This card controls the front page guests see when they open your guidebook.

  • Cover photos: set separate photos for desktop and mobile. Click Change to replace a photo. Images must be under 20 MB.

  • Color overlay: blends the cover photo with your primary colour, which helps text on the front page stand out.

  • Content: edit your Welcome text (you can add the guest's first name with a field code) and choose whether to Show on front page.

  • Weather widget: show or hide the small weather widget on the front page.

Guidebook 2.0: Branding, Logo, Colors & Fonts

  • Color theme: choose Auto - Guest preference, Dark or Light.

  • Logo: upload a logo for the dark and light themes, or tick Apply the same logo for both, dark and light theme. You can also use Auto-adjust for opposite color theme and Apply circle shape.

  • Favicon: the small icon shown in the browser tab.

  • Colours: click Customize to change your colour palette and overlay opacity, or Reset to go back to the default.

  • Fonts: choose a Main font and an Alternative font.

  • Display: choose Normal or Spaced layout density.

Legacy design

If your account still uses the legacy guidebook design, the Appearance tab has two different cards:

  • Cover Background Photo: Desktop cover photo and Mobile cover photo, plus Cover image overlay color (black or white) and Overlay opacity (0–100%). If the text on your cover is hard to read, try increasing the overlay opacity before swapping the photo.

  • Avatar, Logo & Colors: the avatar/logo shown on the guide cover (with an optional circle shape), the Favicon, Navigation bar background, Icons & primary menu text, Main font and Alternative font.

💡 Tip: make sure there's enough contrast between the navigation bar background and text colours so the menu is easy to read.

Map pin and tab names

These aren't on the Appearance tab:

  • Map pin icon: go to Property info → Property Location.

  • Rename the tabs guests see: go to the guidebook's Settings tab → Tab Labels. On Guidebook 2.0 you can rename Front page, Guidebook content, Store and Assistant, up to 12 characters each. On the legacy design, the card is called Tabs and tab names can be up to 8 characters.

Using Guidebook defaults for appearance

If your account has more than one guidebook, the Branding, Logo, Colors & Fonts card (legacy design: Avatar, Logo & Colors and the cover overlay) has a Use Guidebook defaults switch:

Switch

What happens

On

This guidebook uses the branding from your Guidebook defaults. When you change the defaults, this guidebook updates too.

Off

This guidebook uses its own branding, independent of the defaults.

If you only have one guidebook, there's no switch — you edit your branding directly.

This is especially useful for multi-property hosts:

  • Set your standard brand (logo, colours, fonts) once in Guidebook defaults.

  • Every guidebook with the switch on uses it — new and existing.

  • Switch it off only on guidebooks that need a different look, for example a property with its own brand.

Template-level vs. guidebook-level branding

In the legacy Hub, branding could be set at the "template level" (applied to all guides on that template) or at the "guide level" (individual override). In the new Hub, this is replaced by:

New Hub equivalent

Template-level branding

Guidebook defaults — set once, used by every guidebook with the switch on
