How to update the guide logo or mobile icon

In the new Hub, your guidebook logo and favicon both live on the Appearance tab, in the Avatar, Logo & Colors card. Here's how to change each one, and how to set them once for every guidebook.

Each guidebook has a logo (also called the avatar) and a favicon (the small square icon). Both can be a photo or your business logo, and in the new Hub they live in the same place.

ℹ️ This article covers the new Hub. If you're still on the legacy Hub, see How to update the guide logo or mobile icon.

Logo and favicon explained

Where it appears

Avatar / Logo

Displayed on your guidebook cover.

Favicon

A square image, displayed in the browser tab.

Where to find these settings

  1. Open Guidebooks from the left sidebar.

  2. Select the guidebook you want to update.

  3. Click the Appearance tab.

  4. Find the Avatar, Logo & Colors card.

How to change your logo

  1. In the Avatar, Logo & Colors card, find Avatar / Logo.

  2. Click the ⋮ menu beside it and choose Change.

  3. Select your image.

  4. Save the page to upload it. Choosing the file on its own doesn't upload it.

To remove a logo you've uploaded and go back to the default, use the same ⋮ menu and choose Delete.

💡 Tip: If your logo suits a round crop, tick Apply circle shape. It only appears for square logos (the same width and height), once a logo is in place.

How to change your favicon

  1. In the same Avatar, Logo & Colors card, find Favicon.

  2. Click the ⋮ menu beside it and choose Change.

  3. Select your image, then Save the page.

If your image has a transparent background, you may be asked to choose a black or white background before it can be finalised.

Using Guidebook defaults

If your account has more than one guidebook, the Avatar, Logo & Colors card has a Use Guidebook defaults toggle.

Toggle setting

What happens

On

This guidebook shows your account-level logo and favicon. The editing fields are hidden.

Off

The guidebook-level controls appear, and you can set a logo and favicon just for this guidebook.

Two things worth knowing:

  • The toggle covers the whole Avatar, Logo & Colors group — logo, favicon and colours together. You can't inherit the logo but override the favicon.

  • Switching the toggle saves straight away, and any guidebook-level images you set are kept. If you turn defaults back on and later turn them off again, your previous images are still there.

📌 If your account has only one guidebook, there's no toggle. This screen edits your account-level images directly, so what you upload here becomes the default for that guidebook.

Setting the logo and favicon for every guidebook

To set images that every guidebook inherits:

  1. Go to your Guidebook defaults.

  2. Open the Appearance section.

  3. Use the same Avatar / Logo and Favicon fields, with the same ⋮ → Change or Delete options.

There's no inheritance toggle on this screen — it is the default. The Use Guidebook defaults toggle on an individual guidebook links straight here.

Dimensions

No minimum or maximum. A square image is recommended for the favicon but isn't required.

💡 Tip: To create a circular logo without using the built-in option, crop your existing logo to a circle in a tool like canva.com, save it as a PNG with a transparent background, and upload that.

Coming from the legacy Hub?

Legacy Hub

New Hub

Settings > Branding > Logo & icons (template level)

Guidebook defaults > Appearance > Avatar, Logo & Colors

Guides > guide name > Guide branding (guide level)

Guidebooks > guidebook > Appearance > Avatar, Logo & Colors

'Use template level logo & icon' set to No

Use Guidebook defaults toggle switched off

The result is the same — one set of branding with per-guidebook overrides — but the new Hub keeps both images on the same card as your colours.
