Guidebook settings & features

Each guidebook's Settings tab in the new Hub: the review pop-up, PIN protection, URL format, PDF download, search engine settings, translations, tab names, guidebook Field Codes and deleting a guidebook.

Every guidebook has its own Settings tab. It covers how the guidebook engages guests, how guests access it, how it appears in search engines and link previews, its languages and tabs, its guidebook-specific Field Codes, and deleting the guidebook.

Table of contents:

How to get there

  1. Open Guidebooks in the left sidebar.

  2. Use the Editing guidebook dropdown to choose the guidebook. The list is searchable.

  3. Click Settings. It is the last tab in the guidebook editor, after Property info, Check-in & Wi-Fi access, Guidebook Content, Timelines, Guest Registration and Appearance.

💡 Tip: Switching to a different guidebook takes you back to its Property info tab. If you have unsaved changes, you're asked whether to discard them first.

Guest engagement

Leave a review pop-up

Prompts guests to leave a review of their stay.

  1. Switch the toggle on. The status changes to Enabled.

  2. Click Settings to set the public review link, what guests are asked to leave (email, comment) and which email addresses get notified.

If you have more than one guidebook, this section also has a Use Guidebook defaults toggle:

  • On: the guidebook uses the review settings from Guidebook defaults, including any later changes you make there. The Settings button and toggle are hidden while it inherits.

  • Off: the guidebook uses its own review settings.

The toggle saves as soon as you switch it. With only one guidebook, there is no toggle: the review settings apply to your account.

Contact collection form (legacy design only)

This section only appears on accounts that use the Legacy design guidebook. On Guidebook 2.0, guest details are collected through the Guest Registration tab instead.

On the Legacy design, switch the toggle on to show the form, and tick Show pop-up in preview to see it in the guidebook preview.

Content feedback (single-guidebook accounts)

If you have one guidebook, this section lets guests leave feedback on individual topics. Switch the toggle on to enable it.

ℹ️ If a feature isn't included in your plan, its section shows a locked notice instead of the controls.

Guidebook access

PIN protection

Guests have to enter a PIN before they can see the guidebook.

  1. Click Change PIN and set your PIN.

  2. Switch the toggle on.

  3. Optional: tick Show pop-up in preview to see the PIN screen in the guidebook preview.

URL format

Choose how your guidebook link looks:

  • Default: the standard Touch Stay link. It can't be edited.

  • Custom slug: a Touch Stay link with an ending you choose.

  • Custom Sub-domain: your guidebook on a sub-domain you choose.

Use the copy button to copy the current link.

💡 Tip: A custom domain (for example guide.yourbusiness.com) isn't set here. It's an account-wide setting under General settings → Custom domain. See How to set up a custom domain for your guide links.

Download guidebook as PDF

Click Download PDF to download this guidebook as a PDF. The QR Code in PDF link takes you to General settings → Downloads, where the PDF's QR code is set up.

⚠️ If the PDF's QR code points to your Quick Share link, anyone with the PDF can keep opening the guidebook, even after invitation links have expired.

Search engines

Controls how your guidebook appears in search results and in link previews on social media and messaging apps. Guests don't see this text inside the guidebook.

  1. Click Edit.

  2. Enter the Meta title and Meta description.

  3. Save.

Using the guide name code: type {{guide_name}} in the meta title or description and it's replaced with the guidebook's name. Type it exactly like this, with two curly brackets on each side and nothing in front of it. Touch Stay adds " | Touch Stay" to the end of the title.

⚠️ If you copied the code from an older version of this article with a # in front of it, delete the #. Otherwise it shows as plain text in your meta title.

Which text is used: if this guidebook has its own meta title or description, that's used. If not, the guidebook uses the one set in Guidebook defaults.

Allow indexing by search engines

This toggle is off for new guidebooks, which tells search engines such as Google not to index the guidebook. Touch Stay never makes guidebook links public, but if you or a guest post the link somewhere online, search engines can still find the page.

Switch it on only if you want the guidebook to appear in search results, for example when it's embedded on your own website.

⚠️ Warning: if you allow indexing and later change your mind, it takes time for the guidebook to disappear from search results. If you're unsure, leave it off.

Translations & Languages

What this section shows depends on how translations are set up on your account:

  • More than one language: each language has a Show language in guidebook? toggle. At least one language must stay on. Use Manage supported languages to add or remove languages.

  • One language: use Manage translations to set up more.

  • Google Translate: use Translation settings to change it.

Tabs

What you can change here depends on your guidebook design. When you make a change, a save bar appears. Click Save to keep it.

Guidebook 2.0

  • Rename tabs: change the Front page tab, Guidebook content tab, Store tab and Assistant tab names, up to 12 characters each.

  • Show or hide the Local guide card: under Display in guidebook?, switch Map Tab off to hide the Local guide card from the guidebook's Info tab, or on to show it. It's on for new guidebooks.

The bottom tabs themselves can't be hidden here:

  • Front page and Guidebook content: always shown.

  • Store: shows automatically when your Store or Tours & Activities is switched on, and hides when both are off.

  • Assistant: always shown. When the AI chatbot is switched on and included in your plan, the tab opens the chatbot. Otherwise it shows the contact details you've set to show on the front page, so guests can reach you. If none are set to show, guests only see a short message suggesting they search the guidebook. See Update your contact details.

Legacy design

Rename the Front page, Guidebook content, Map, Store and Search tabs, and choose whether the Map tab is displayed. The Store tab shows or hides automatically, depending on whether your Store is published.

Field Codes

This section only appears once you've created at least one custom Field Code of the Guide type. Click Edit to set this guidebook's values for those codes, for example a review link or the property manager's name.

Delete Guidebook

Click Delete Guidebook to delete this guidebook. Its related content and contacts are not deleted. The section links to your Deleted guidebooks.

ℹ️ Team members with the Viewer role don't see this section.

Guidebook defaults

If you manage several guidebooks, Guidebook defaults let you set things once for all of them. To open them, go to Guidebooks and click Guidebook defaults in the page header, next to the page title.

Its Settings page has two of the sections from this tab:

  • Guest engagement: the review pop-up settings used by every guidebook that has Use Guidebook defaults switched on. Changes apply to those existing guidebooks too, not only new ones.

  • Search engines: the meta title and description used by any guidebook that doesn't have its own.

Tabs and the Local guide card are set on each guidebook, not in Guidebook defaults.
